Sri Lanka SOLO Travel Blog 2

hey hey!!

Finally got myself some fairly stable WIFI. I'm in the South Coast of Sri Lanka now, in Tangalle, currently sat in a restaurant by the beach. I'm nearing up to the end of my two week trip to Sri Lanka. Damn it's been incredible.

After leaving Sigiriya, I was on the bus to Kandy whereby I got chatting  to a lovely man who in the end arranged for me to stay in an amazing Sri Lankan woman's home; his friend whom he would be meeting once we got off the bus in Kandy. She was so lovely and took me to her home far up in the hilly jungle. She had a very simple home, no proper roof, shower or kitchen;  but still cooked me the most delicious meal which we ate with our hands.

The next day, I explored her area by tuk tuk and foot. I'm so used to seeing wild peacocks, all sorts of small and big lizards  and monkeys around. It was amazing to see so many natural fruits and products growing in trees too, such as black pepper, aloe Vera, jackfruit, bananas and papaya.

Later on, I met her kids and her son showed me to the Temple of the Tooth, a Buddhist temple and very peaceful place. That evening was sadly my last evening in Kandy in their home. It was an emotional goodbye the next morning. But I am keeping in touch and plan to visit them again in the future.

Wow!! So I'd heard a lot about this train journey from Kandy to Ella. But it exceeded my expectations by far!! It was truly INCREDIBLE. Constant sights, views, villages, trees, mountains and every kind of nature! It was a 7 hour journey but I could have been on that train forever. The way it winded around her nature was wonderful. It only cost 2 pounds as well!

So then I arrived to Ella, a beautiful, cute and small village. Here I checked into sleep cheap hostel. I had an amazing two nights here exploring Ella rock and Nine Arch Bridge. I made good friends with the owner so it was nice to relax and  chill.

It was hard to leave but then yesterday I arrived to Tangalle. That's where I am now. I've decided to make this my last stop before Colombo so that I have some time to relax and book trains/flights for INDIA!! I'll be flying to India early hours of Thursday morning. So I guess my next post will be from Pondicherry, Chennai, India on Sunday!

Teaching English in China was the beginning of my SOLO journey abroad. Moving to China to work, then going on to travel and now continuing my work, choosing other intense but amazing destinations to travel to; it's really been an incredible journey. I have been on one big journey of self discover, and have learnt too much to even write in this blog entry. It's amazing to know that even once my travels end of one month in a India, the adventure hasn't ended as I'll be returning  to China where I'll continue to travel and also enjoy my time teaching there.

Life is good.
