INDIAAA ❤️
Hey hey!
Time is going wayyyy too quickly! I can't believe I was ever daunted by the concept of a month in India alone, because time has gone way too quickly and I rarely ever feel alone! Exploring India has been a dream come true for me and has only inspired me to further travel in India again.
So after Bangalore I took a comfortable second class AC and train to Hampi. I slept through the whole journey and arrived into Hampi excited and happy. I'd arrived into a rocky heaven. The tuk tuk drove me to a potential guesthouse in a quiet part away from the craziness of the village Centre. It was so beautiful that I couldn't believe my eyes! Peaceful, beautiful, natural and historical; is how I would describe Hampi.
I spent the most amazing three nights there relaxing, exploring the ancient historical temples and ruins, having my first of many full body Ayurvedic massages each evening, cycling around to explore the other small island across the small river and enduring so much tasty food of course!
After Hampi, my next destination was Goa! This was where I had my first SLEEPER class train experience (the lowest class). It was a nine hour journey transformed into 12 hours due to the engine "dying". It also provided for an experience I'll never forget. It was uncomfortable, hot, cramped and crazy... BUT it was a true, Indian cultural experience. I made friends with lots of locals by the end, and am proud that I survived that journey. Without challenge we cannot grow.
So, I arrived into Goa with a guy from Israel I'd met on the train. He was kind enough to help me carry my big bag to the bus station where we'd both head to our respective destinations in Goa. I planned to head South to Palolem Beach. After a long journey of buses and tuk tuks, I arrived to Palolem Beach in the evening.
It was so nice to be on the beach. The waves were so inviting even at that time in the evening. I had an amazing three nights in Goa. I swam, relaxed, saw dolphins, had an amazing Ayurvedic massage and Sirudhara oil treatment. This was where four liters of special oil was poured onto a specific part of my head. I felt like I was flying! It was truly amazing!
After also meeting an amazing bunch of people who I'd then join with again a few days later in Rajasthan, I headed to Mumbai/Bombay. Mumbai was CRAZY but amazing. Crazy in the sense that I've never seen such crazy traffic and congestion in my life and the slum culture is really vast, blatant and saddening. Beautiful in the sense of it's architecture, art, culture, city vibe and shopping! It was also so nice to spend my two nights there is a friends apartment, so I had a cost two days too.
After Mumbai, I took my first domestic flight in India to Rajasthan; which is where I am now! This was where I officially hit the north of India! And I've definitely felt it. It's more crazy here, streets are more dirtier but it's so beautiful, food is scrumptious and my Punjabi is mostly understood!! I've so far visited Jaipur, Ajmer, Pushkar and I've just gotten back from the deserts in Jaisalmer! In fact in about an hour I'll be boarding my night bus to Udaipur. Life is good!
Sadly, this Wednesday I'll be flying back to Shanghai (a very long flight). But until then I still have Udaipur, Agra and a tiny bit of New Delhi!
I'll be in touch!
