My head is a jungle!
Hey hey hey!!
So this week I had lots of fun teaching SHAPES! To save time on lesson
planning, apart from grade 5 whereby I planned a different lesson, I taught
shapes to all – with differentiation of course. It was so much fun! We literally
bought the classroom to life by exploring and presenting all the shapes we
could see in the classroom. This alongside with teaching
(for an end of year performance) FROZEN – LET IT GO to my English Corner class
in one of my schools, made my working week fun and enjoyable.
On Friday I had my usual Chinese lesson in the morning and then headed
to People’s Square to meet a friend for lunch and a catch up. I had a
scrumptious beef fried rice – spicy just how I like it! Damn I’m gonna miss the
variation of food to offer in China when I go back to England. After lunch I headed to my usual Shanghai Foreign Language Book store to get some work done.
So, this week I was pretty productive. I’ve booked my flight back to
England (20th July), to Beijing when my cousin comes from home and
also flights to NEPAL! I’ve always wanted to go to Nepal and I cannot believe
that this dream is now going to come true after my contract finishes. The next
couple of weeks are filled with travel to be honest. This coming Friday I’ll
fly to Taipei, and the week after that Penang & Singapore! Exciting times.
So, this weekend, as it’s one of my few not travelling, I tried to keep
it fairly productive and chilled. I’ve always got lots of work, writing and
Chinese to catchup on so I mainly did that. On Friday and Saturday evening I
also attended friend’s birthday drinks which was nice. It was nice to catch up
with people and have a nice cocktail and rewind.
Today was a lovely day too. I had a productive morning then met a friend for lunch at the Xinjiang BBQ place close to my home. It's literally the best lamb sticks with bread I've ever eaten. After this, I had a chinese lesson and then met my friend Grace. We also had a Chinese lesson (free talk) and then caught up. I haven't seen her in ages and we always have such philosophical chats about life.
After this I embraced the warm breeze and let the wind sweep my hair (which I got cut on Tuesday after work by the way for just 25 RMB AKA £2.50) whilst I rode on my scooter from Xujiahui to Beixinjing (home).

I’m at the point in my second year whereby my head is buzzing with
travel ideas, planning, leaving China, going back to England, missing my
family, knowing I will see them in two months, teachings coming to an end –
everything's like one big weird but awesome jumble. Life is good, in a lot’s of
changes are happening sort of way!
I’ll be in touch next Sunday when I’m back from TAIPEI, TAIWAN!
