A splendid sunny week!

Hey guys!!

So, It’s been another awesome week! On Wednesday it was two of my friend’s birthdays so a bunch of us got together for an Indian dinner; which was lovely! Was nice to have some mid-week fun, catch up with people and eat Indian food of course. The rest of the week pretty much flew by what with my usual Thursday evening Chinese classes and in no time it was Friday.

On Friday I had the morning to relax at home, do some work and clean my room. Then, I headed to Xujiahui for another Chinese lesson at 2:30. After this, I went to my tutoring class and taught the students for an hour and a half. As you can see, it was a productive day! I usually stay and have dinner with my tutoring family, but this time I had dinner planned with a friend. So after class I took the metro to Xujiahui again and went to a famous Xinjiang food restaurant; but I’ve forgotten the name of it (I’ll look it up and re-edit this soon). We had a scrumptious meal alongside some local, live dancing and music. It had been a lovely evening, but also a very full day so I went home and pretty much passed out to sleep immediately.

The next day, I had quite a productive morning getting lesson planning, vlogging and other sort of work done. This is because in the afternoon, 2-5pm, I had a girly, pampering afternoon planned. A friend I’d met at the Holi Event a month or so back, and I, had booked an afternoon of pamper with GlamLab. This provided prosecco, cocktails, hair treatment, massage, manicure, waxing, make-up – all sorts! So, Lana and I met up, the weather was so sunny and beautiful (it’s pretty much Summer in Shanghai now – but a Springy Summer as the temperatures are yet to rise above 30 degrees by July), and headed to Xintiandi for our glamorous afternoon.

IT WAS LUSH! I started with getting my curly, bushy hair done! They straightened and made it like nice and styled! I also enjoyed speaking Chinese with my hair stylist too – great practice! After this, I had my nails done. I rarely get my nails done so it was so nice to be pampered. After this I had my upper lip and eyebrows waxed – because why not? Then, whilst enjoying my glass of prosecco, I had a face mist (natural vegan ingredients) made, enjoyed a hand massage, shoulder and head massage and enjoyed having my make-up done. Typical China didn’t have my colour foundation, so they skipped the foundation part but the rest of my make-up was nice; and to be honest I’m not keen on wearing make-up anymore these days anyway. It’s too hot!

Anyway, after a FAB afternoon, Lana and I felt truly beautiful, relaxed and ontop of life! We wandered around Xintiandi for a bit before saying our goodbyes. I headed to Yangpu district to meet a friend for a salad dinner. After this, I headed home and had a relaxing, working evening.

Today has been another nice day, but it’s sort of left me behind on some work – but hey ho! I can’t always be working can I? Especially if I have just eight weeks left. It’s weird, I just skyped my family and they are asking me when I’m coming back. I haven’t got my flight booked yet, and it’s sort of sinking in now that… damn… I’m going back. I am overly excited for my PGCE, but I’m going to be SO sad to leave. Anyway, for now I don’t want to think about the end and just enjoy the time I have. I’ve already booked trips to TAIWAN, PENANG (Malaysia) and SINGAPORE. I’m certainly going to make the most of my last couple of months here – that’s for sure!

So today, a friend and I went to Century Park for the afternoon. It was such a beautiful and natural afternoon. We enjoyed a gorgeous picnic and wander. After this, I had my regular Chinese lesson and met a new friend for an Indian dinner! It’s been an amazing week, and I’m excited for the week ahead. Tomorrow, after work, will be the second History Society Session whereby we will be learning about the Rise, Fall and Life of Puyi (The Last Emperor).

I’ll be in touch!
