SINGAPORE

Singapore was like a breath of fresh air! I genuinely did not expect to love Singapore as much as I did – probably because a lot of people I’d met had said to me Singapore is expensive and doesn’t require more than a day or two to see. I can disconfirm these statements now that I’ve been there! Singapore is slightly pricey, compared to other parts of Asia, but not ridiculously expensive and if it is, it’s deservedly because it’s such a modernised, biodiverse and advanced city. Also, there is SO much to see. Cute, funky areas like Haji Lane, Chinese quarter, Arab quarter, Indian quarter, awesome bridges, all sorts of environmental projects they have embarked on, the marina, museums and so many nature walks to try. I found myself in the tropical jungle by day, and fancy, glam rooftop bar by night! So, on my first day I decided to get educated and head on over to the National Museum of Singapore. 端午节 Dragon Boat Festival Holiday: A three-day trip to Penang, Malaysia

  端午节    Dragon Boat Festival is an important festival in China taking place on May 30th 2017; with a history of over two thousand years. The festival honours Qu Yuan, and is often celebrated with families, dragon boat racing and eating sticky rice dumplings. Fortunately, it gives us foreign teachers a three-day holiday. I was even more fortunate (due to my having Fridays off and not having to do the make-up day on the Saturday) to have five days off altogether. So what did I do? Of course I booked some travels! Three days in Penang, Malaysia and two days in Singapore. Let's start with Penang, Malaysia. <3 I love that feeling of landing into a new place.
